The installation of IE8 on my brother's PC apparently did not progress enough to actually be listed in the tool to be removed or uninstalled. May need to rebuild system. When I initially moved from IE6 to IE7, I could not access certain applications. It took some doing to get my computer back to IE6 - and then upgrade back to IE7. Holy Cow I finally figured out what to click on, got it downloaded and it looks like it worked! Unlike IE7, IE8 cannot be uninstalled if you have installed SP3.

Many ways to get to it, some versions of IE. Thanks for this post, i will try that. It's nifty when it works and frustrating when it doesn't. Option 3 worked after I had an exhausting 3 day research into this issue.
If you have an older version of Internet Explorer, I recommend downloading Internet Explorer 9 (offline installer, not one of those stupid web installers that always fail). Kb946501 Download It may improve "whatever" but may cause problems elsewhere. Then try opening the website again in compatibility view.
