THANKS!!!! Outlook 2016 Prompt For Password So I deleted the whole protect folder (at your own risk if you follow my solution!) and it worked (for me). Now you only have to move all your data, documents and what not to your new user account, then you can delete the old one. Now I have to figure out how to get the messages back.

have used the microsoft support suggestion #290864 was able to delete reg subkey, still no sucess.used outlook express and it will save the password.I noticed they both use the protected storage for me, what worked was changing the authentication method of OWA in Exchange 2007.
